About Bildetema
Bildetema is a multilingual visual dictionary containing images, text and sound organized by topic. The dictionary can be a starting point for language learning in daycares/preschools, schools, and adult education. It contains basic vocabulary, mostly nouns and adjectives.
Bildetema has different functionalities that can be useful in teaching, such as options to view more than one image for many words, print contents, hide or view the entry words and indefinite articles, etc.
A Nordic collaboration
Bildetema is operated by the National Center of Multicultural Education (NAFO) at Oslo Metropolitan University in Norway, in collaboration with the Swedish Institute for Language and Folklore, the Center of Language and Literacy in Iceland and the National Center for Reading in Denmark. All four organizations work to build language skills in children, youth and adults.
